24% of Calcasieu Parish's Children live in poverty. 79% of these children are under the age of five. Many of them reside in homes with a working parent or grandparent struggling to make ends meet. These families must choose between paying the rent, buying food, medicine, or other basic needs and not toys. We would prefer that these families continue to meet their basic needs and that we and other organizations like us make arrangements for the toys.
