The Junior League of lake Charles is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through effective action & leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational & charitable.

The Teen Leadership Council is a Junior League of Lake Charles,Inc. project designed to address untapped potential in 10th and 11th grade students in the five parish area. Twenty-five applicants are accepted annually to participate in TLC.
Through a series of seminars and small group activities, the students receive training in leadership skills, decision making abilities, communications and conflict resolutions skills and a sense of community. Additionally TLC invites the previous year's group to return as mentors to the current group. The memtors are trained in facilitation skills, and are responsible for maintaining contact and encouraging those TLC members whom they have been assigned.
TLC scholarships are offered on an annual basis, one to a current TLC member and one to a mentor. The scholarship is for post high school educational purposes in any area the recipient chooses.
